BROWNSVILLE, Texas – Our good friends at Non Profit TV Network have sent us their latest video. It highlights the work of Brownsville-based BiG Heroes.

BiG Heroes Texas was formed in 2016 by Martha M. Gonzalez and Leticia Martinez. They felt there were limited opportunities post-high school for young adults with disabilities to participate in transition programs at the high school level.

“At BiG Heroes, our focus encompasses Kitchen and Gardening, Health, Wellness, Job Skills, and Production, providing comprehensive programs that foster culinary creativity, promote physical and mental well-being, and equip individuals with essential job skills for meaningful employment opportunities,” Gonzalez said.

Asked about the group’s vision, Gonzalez said: “Our vision is to change the way the world views individuals with disabilities and focuses on what they can do – their abilities.”

In the video, Gonzalez said the group is looking for help from people with “big hearts.”
