Edinburg Police, 7-Eleven Stripes set to launch "Operation Chill"

EDINBURG, Texas (ValleyCentral) — The Edinburg Police Department announced the start of Operation Chill.

The police department's latest effort to beat the heat and strengthen the relationship with the community encourages youth to do good deeds this summer.

In addition, the collaboration with 7-Eleven and Stripes aims to help reduce crime in Edinburg, according to a news release from the city.

Officers will hand out free Slurpee coupons to kids who stop by the Stripes at 1210 E. Monte Cristo Road on Thursday, July 11 from 6 to 8 p.m.

Residents can participate in various activities, such as fun games while enjoying a sweet treat.
