BROWNSVILLE, Texas (ValleyCentral) — Cyclobia is back and this year's theme is Cycling the Streets Art in Motion.

Cyclobia is the City of Brownsville's celebration of cycling, walking, and community health and wellness. This year's event will take place at 6 p.m. Friday at Southern Pacific Linear Park, located
at E 6th Street & E Ringgold Street.

Locals of all ages are encouraged to participate in the Fun Walk-Run track, cycling/walking track, enjoy live entertainment, and collect door prizes.

Cyclobia will kick off with a mile-long Fun Walk-Run, from 6 to 6:30 p.m. at Linear Park. The Fun Walk-Run serves as a warm-up for the main event and offers a perfect opportunity for community members to engage and enjoy the festivities.

"Cyclobia is more than just cycling; its about creating health and wellness awareness, enjoying our City and creating a sense of community," said Dr. Rose Gowen, Brownsville City Commissioner At Large B. "I want to encourage families, friends, and neighbors to come out and experience this fun and healthy event together."

The cycling/walking portion of the event will begin at 7 p.m. at Linear Park.

Participants are encouraged to take selfies with the downtown murals and post them on their respective Facebook page with the hashtag "#CyclobiaBTX during their journey.

Those who visit all nine murals will verify their mural visits at the Linear Park Registration Table, with the Multimodal Department staff. There, they will receive a Cyclobia Drawing Ticket and enter for a chance to win prizes, including mountain bicycles. The raffles will take place at 8 p.m. at Linear Park.

"The Walk-Run is a wonderful way to get the whole family involved," said Linda C. Macias,
Brownsville City Commissioner District 2. "I invite everyone to join us as we explore the beautiful
murals and celebrate the vibrant culture of downtown Brownsville."
