Edinburg native wanted for sex crime in Florida, arrested after 12 years on the run

EDINBURG, Texas (ValleyCentral) — An Edinburg native who was wanted out Florida for sexual assault was arrested Tuesday afternoon, according to the City of Edinburg.

Carlos Perez, 35, was arrested by the FBI and the Edinburg Police Department after being on the run for 12 years.

Perez was arrested shortly before 4 p.m. Tuesday on the 1100 block of W. Trenton Rd after he was intially pulled over for a traffic stop.

Trial begins for suspect in migrant bus stop crash

During the traffic stop, Perez was found to have a valid Texas driver's license with fraudulent information.

Perez will face local criminal charges for failure to identify.

His arraignment is pending due to an ongoing investigation.
