The State Bar of Texas on Friday announced that an Edinburg attorney is one of two candidates for the organization’s 2025-2026 president-elect.
In a news release, the State Bar of Texas said Deborah L. Cordova, a co-founder of Walsh McGurk Cordova Nixon, PLLC, in Edinburg, is a candidate along with G. David Smith, a founding partner of Smith & Lee Lawyers, PC, located in Rockwall, Texas.
Both attorneys will appear on the ballot in April 2025 along with any other certified president-elect candidates.
“Presently there are no additional president-elect candidates, although members have until March 3 to submit their nominating petitions to the State Bar for certification,” the release stated.
Cordova is a Rio Grande Valley native who grew up in Mission.
Both attorneys were recommended to the State Bar’s board of directors by its Nominations and Elections Subcommittee.
