Edible Rio Grande Valley Magazine

HARLINGEN, Texas (ValleyCentral) — Edible Rio Grande Valley began three years ago and its goal is to expand the local food culture.

According to Jacqueline Folacci with Edible Rio Grande Valley, in every issue produced, there are two reoccurring sections. One is a list of all the farmers' markets and the other is a list of what's in season.

"The Rio Grande Valley is very unique in its seasonality where we tend to have two growing seasons. Think of summer as our version of winter everywhere else where nothing grows. Then autumn and spring are when everything grows. In our most recent issue, you're going to find what you should be planting in spring, broken down by month, and then what you should be eating. The seasonal products that you should be shopping for if you shop at HEB or you go to your farmers market will be the freshest and the most nutrient-dense."
