DPS searching for suspect in Palmview hit-and-run accident

PALMVIEW, Texas (ValleyCentral) — The Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating a hit-and-run accident that left one man in critical condition.

DPS troopers say the accident happened at approximately 7:40 p.m. Monday on La Homa Road north of 2 Mile Line Road north of Palmview in Hidalgo County.

A preliminary investigation revealed the driver of a Chevrolet Sonic car was traveling northbound on La Homa Road when he stopped and got out of his car to secure a jug of water from the backseat, according to a release.

DPS says that's when someone driving an older model tan Chevrolet pickup traveling northbound struck the driver of the car with the truck's right front side and fled the scene.

The victim was transported to McAllen Medical Center where he remains in critical condition.

Police are asking if anyone knows the whereabouts of the suspect of the Chevy pickup to call the Weslaco DPS Office at (956) 565-7600.
