DPS investigates fatal officer-involved shooting

WESLACO, Texas (ValleyCentral) — The Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating an officer-involved shooting that left one man dead.

According to a news release from the Texas Highway Patrol, the incident occurred at 2:30 a.m. on Joe Stephens Boulevard near Sugar Sweet Avenue in Weslaco.

A 23-year-old Hispanic man was pronounced dead. Authorities have not released his identity.
