PALMVIEW, Texas (ValleyCentral) — The Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating a three-vehicle crash they say was caused by road rage.
According to a news release from DPS, the accident occurred on Wednesday at the intersection of West Mile 3 Road and North Bentsen Palm Drive, north of Palmview.
Troopers say a man driving a Honda CVR motorcycle was traveling eastbound on West Mile Road 3 and being chased at a high speed by a 2015 Buick Regal.
They say the man driving the sedan was recklessly weaving in and out of traffic.
According to DPS, when the Buick approached the intersection of West 3 Mile Road and North Bentsen Palm Drive he crashed into a white Chevrolet Silverado that was stopped at the red light.
DPS says the truck then rear-ended a gray Ford Fiesta that was also waiting for the light.
A passenger in the Silverado was taken to Doctor's Hospital at Renaissance where she was treated and released.
The driver of the Buick, identified as 30-year-old Ramiro Ezequiel Garcia of Mission, was also taken to Doctor's Hospital at Renaissance and then transferred to McAllen Medical Center where he died of his injuries on Friday.
According to the release, the Hidalgo County Sheriff's Office took a statement from the motorcyclist, who said the chase had been initiated between him and Garcia following an argument.
DPS says a blood warrant was issued for Garcia because they suspect he was drunk at the time of the fatal accident.
