Delivery driver arrested for drug contraband at Edinburg juvenile center

EDINBURG, Texas (ValleyCentral) — A driver for a local produce company was arrested for carrying drug contraband inside a company vehicle during a delivery to a Edinburg juvenile center, officials say.

Buster Lind Produce delivery driver Eduardo Salinas, 34, can face up to 10 years for the offense of prohibited substance in a correctional facility.

According to the Office of Inspector General, Salinas was employed as a produce delivery vendor of the Evins Regional Juvenile Center.

On March 4, Salinas and the company delivery vehicle were searched in accordance with facility entry search protocol.

During the search, officers found drug contraband in a glass jar within a bag belonging to Salinas.

Investigation revealed the substance tested positive for marijuana, the OIG said.

Salinas was booked in the Hidalgo County Adult Detention Center upon his arrest.

The alleged offense is a third-degree felony, punishable by up to $10,000.
