WESLACO, Texas (ValleyCentral) — The City of Weslaco has begun its expansion project for Mayor Joe V. Sanchez Public Library.
A groundbreaking ceremony was held Thursday morning to celebrate the start of the expansion.
"It will be one of the state-of-the-art libraries we're extremely excited to have. It's not only going to benefit the City of Weslaco but all our surrounding cities," said Adrian Gonzalez, Mayor of Weslaco.
The expansion project will feature additional study spaces, a larger conference and a modern teen area.
"This is an important project that we wanted to do to continue the education and continue the vision that we have for our youth," Gonzalez said.
The expansion project is expected to be complete by February 2026.
