Citizen Alert: Water Conservation and Utility Rate Suspension
The City is finalizing its Stage 2 Water Conservation and Drought Contingency Plan and taking action to suspend a proposed rate increase from Texas Gas Service Company.
- Water Conservation: Final reading of an ordinance adopting the updated Water Conservation and Drought Contingency Plan Stage 2, establishing criteria for initiation and termination of drought response stages.
- Gas Rates: Resolution suspending the implementation of interim GRIP rate adjustments proposed by Texas Gas Service Company to allow for further review of the proposed $278M capital investment recovery.
- Infrastructure Spending: Purchase of a Rotary Fan Press for the Wastewater Treatment Plant from A-Square Water Treatment for $1,700,000 to address compliance issues.
- Engineering Contracts: Amendment to the J&R Engineering contract for the Sanitary Sewer Collection System Elimination Project (Lift Stations 26 and 30), bringing the total revised contract amount to $1,077,254.95.
- Fiber Optic Policy: Second reading of an ordinance requiring developers to escrow fiber optic infrastructure during the subdivision phase and enforcing penalties for noncompliance.
- Financials: Acceptance of the Audited Financial Statements for FY 2024-2025, which received an unmodified (clean) opinion.
- Public Safety: Proclamation for National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week (April 12-18, 2026).
- Zoning: Conditional Use Permit renewals for alcohol sales at 7-Eleven (6024 N. Cage Blvd) and Tropical Island #2 (1801 W. Ridge Rd).
