PHARR, Texas (ValleyCentral) — In anticipation of the annual City of Pharr New Year's Eve Ball Drop, city officials prepare for road closures starting Dec. 29.
At 7 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 29, the city announced they would begin road closures on 281 S Cage Boulevard from Park Avenue to Kelly Avenue.
Residents in need of an alternative route can take S. Bluebonnet Street to W Kelly Avenue and then S. Athol Street.
This is the city's third consecutive New Year's Eve Ball Drop, where the city showcases a variety of drone and laser show, live entertainment, confetti cannons, photo ops and the anticipated ball drop at midnight.
“There’s really so many surprises, activities and productions that are happening throughout the event leading to the majestic ball drop,” said Yuri Gonzalez, spokesperson for the City of Pharr.
The event will be held on Cage Boulevard, in front of Pharr City Hall.
Doors for the event open at 7:30 p.m. on New Year’s Eve.
