BROWNSVILLE, Texas (ValleyCentral) — Valley Baptist Medical Center in Brownsville and city officials on Thursday launched the Charro Days Baby Initiative.
According to the release, the initiative helps further celebrate Charro Days with the community by naming the first baby born at Valley Baptist Medical in Brownsville during Charro Days as the "Charro Days Baby."
"It's similar to what we do for the first New Year's baby, just kind of putting a Charro Days spin on it. This is a brand new tradition for us in the community and we're looking at bigger and better things each year as we grow on this tradition," said Miriam Longoria, director of Women's Services.
As part of the announcement, Brownsville city officials read an official proclamation highlighting Valley Baptist's historic role in Charro Days festivities while commemorating the launch of the new initiative.
