BROWNSVILLE, Texas (ValleyCentral) — A man was arrested for allegedly attempting to cross into Mexico with a stolen truck, authorities say.
Bobby Gonzalez, 64, was charged with theft, according to a release from the Cameron County Sheriff's Office.
On Thursday, authorities responded to a residence regarding a stolen vehicle. At the scene, deputies spoke with the owner who reported his 2020 GMC Sierra pick-up truck was stolen overnight.
The owner of the truck provided surveillance footage to authorities. It showed multiple suspects engaging in the theft.
At 9 a.m., authorities at the Gateway Port of Entry stopped the reported truck, which Gonzalez was driving.
Gonzalez told investigators, he agreed to cross the stolen truck into Matamoros, Mexico in return for financial compensation.
Gonzalez was booked into Carrizalez Rucker Detention Center and is pending arraignment.
