Cameron County issues voluntary evacuation for RV guests ahead of Hurricane Beryl

CAMERON COUNTY, Texas (ValleyCentral) — A voluntary evacuation notice has been made to RV residents and guests staying at Cameron County parks.

Cameron County Judge Eddie Trevino Jr. issued the voluntary evacuation in preparation of Hurricane Beryl.

Hurricane Beryl set the record as the earliest category five hurricane, developing along the Carribbean Sea and moving west toward northern Mexico and South Texas.

RV guests staying at the following Cameron County parks are encouraged to take precautionary measures.

  • Isla Blanca Park
  • Andy Bowie Park
  • Adolph Thomae Jr. Park

Judge Trevino is asking RV residents to secure loose items to avoid potential high winds causing damage to nearby properties.

"We are not requiring guests to evacuate, but want to make sure all precautionary measures are taken in case the storms current track remains accurate," Trevino said.

Residents are also encouraged to prepare with a hurricane emergency kit with essential items including a backup generator, flashlights and perishable food items.
