Burglary suspect arrested after barricading himself in home, WCSO says

LASARA, Texas (ValleyCentral) — The Willacy County Sheriff's Office arrested a man accused of burglary after he barricading himself in a mobile home, authorities said.

Michael Delbert Turner, 43, was arrested on two counts of burglary of a habitation, two counts of assault causing bodily injury, one count of resisting arrest and an additional out of county warrant for assault, a post from the Willacy County Sheriff's Office stated.

At 9:12 p.m. Tuesday, deputies with the Willacy County Sheriff's Office responded to a home on Wells Street in Lasara in reference to an assault and burglary.

Deputies were told that the suspect, identified as Turner, had been arguing with his neighbors, and at one point entered their residence without consent and assaulted them, the post stated.

Upon arrival, deputies were told that Turner ran inside his mobile home. Deputies knocked on his door and asked to speak to him, but he would not open the door, and it was determined that he had barricaded himself inside, authorities added.

Investigators obtained a search warrant and entered the home, where Turner began to resist arrest. The post stated that deputies used an "electronic control device" on Turner to "gain compliance," and he was taken into custody.

Jail records show that his bond was set at $25,000.
