HARLINGEN, Texas (ValleyCentral) — The city of Brownsville will host a Black History Month Festival in Brownsville.

The free event is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 1 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Lincoln Park, and will feature games, music, food, live entertainment, and a special appearance by the Buffalo Soldiers.

This is the first time the city has sponsored such a festival, aiming to revive a tradition that has existed for over 25 years.

Event organizers emphasize the importance of educating the community about the contributions of minorities, particularly the Buffalo Soldiers, who served in Brownsville in 1906.

They also invite vendors to participate and encourage the community to attend, highlighting it as a family-friendly event.
