Brownsville police officer arrested on DWI charges

BROWNSVILLE, Texas (ValleyCentral) — A Brownsville police officer was arrested for allegedly driving while intoxicated, the department announced Wednesday.

Ilse Muniz Gonzalez was charged with driving while intoxicated after being arrested by the Texas Department of Public Safety.

Gonzalez, a Brownsville police officer, has been placed on administrative leave from the department, the Brownsville Police Department told ValleyCentral.

Brownsville PD Public Information Officer Abril Luna told ValleyCentral, that the Police Department takes these allegations seriously.

"We are committed to maintaining the highest standards of professionalism and accountability within our department," Luna added.
