BROWNSVILLE, Texas (ValleyCentral) — A man was arrested after allegedly recording another person showering at the Texas Southmost College Recreation Center locker room, police stated.

On Friday, Brownsville police arrived at the 2000 block of W. University Blvd. in reference to a disturbance. Once on site, police spoke with the victim who stated that while he was showering in the recreational locker room, he saw the front-facing camera of a cell phone in his stall.

He stated that as he peaked his head outside he saw a man standing there holding the phone in his hands.

Mario Ortiz (Brownsville PD)

Mario Arturo Ortiz, 31, was confronted by police shortly after. He told law enforcement someone was accusing him of taking photos inside the locker room, which he denied.

Ortiz provided his cell phone to the officer and gave him consent to check his photo gallery. The officer stated he did not find any incriminating images in Ortiz's photo gallery but asked to check the recently deleted album.

Ortiz consented to the search and officers found several videos of a naked man showering.

Ortiz was taken into custody and transported to the Brownsville City Jail and charged with invasive visual recording in a bathroom, a state jail felony. Ortiz was arraigned Saturday and was issued a $5,000 bond.
