Brownsville announces road closures ahead of Charro Days parades

BROWNSVILLE, Texas (ValleyCentral) — The City of Brownsville announced its upcoming street closures in preparation for the Charro Days parades.

This year, the Charro Days festivities will occur on Thursday, Feb. 27 through Saturday, March 1.

The following are the start times for each parade:

  • The BISD Children's Parade will begin at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 27.
  • The Illuminated Parade will begin at 7 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 28.
  • The Color Guard Parade will begin at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 1.
  • The Grand International Parade will begin at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March .1

City officials announced they will begin road closures for the Brownsville Independent School District Children's Parade at noon Thursday on West Elizabeth Street, from Central Boulevard to Palm Boulevard.

Brownsville announces street closures for Sombrero Fest

At 12:30 p.m., road closures will proceed on East Elizabeth Street from Palm Boulevard to International Boulevard.

On Friday, Feb. 28., road closures will begin for the Illuminated Parade at 4:30 p.m. starting at West Elizabeth Street, from Central Boulevard to Palm Boulevard.

At 5:30 p.m., road closures for the Friday night parade will continue at East Elizabeth Street from Palm Boulevard to International Boulevard.

On Saturday, March 1, preparations for the Grand International Parade will begin at 10 a.m. on West Elizabeth Street, from Central Boulevard to Palm Boulevard.

At 10:30 a.m. road closures will proceed on East Elizabeth Street from Palm Boulevard to International Boulevard.

City officials advise motorists to take alternative routes and plan for possible traffic delays.
