EDINBURG, Texas (ValleyCentral) — A new mural was brought to life Monday morning in downtown Edinburg with the help of the community.
Visual artist Mauricio Ramirez was joined by the community to take part in the public art piece.
"It's pretty much an engagement that I like to do because it allows the process to be shared with everybody in the community," Ramirez said.
Over 100 people visited the mural site to participate in its completion.
Ramirez says the goal was to create a piece that represents Edinburg and its culture.
The mural represents elements of music, festivals, patriotism and local heroes.
"Hopefully this mural will inspire others to take ownership of their space and hopefully produce a wave of murals," Ramirez continued.
The mural is located near the Hidalgo County Courthouse on 315 S. Closner Blvd.
