Alton PD, family honor 5 year death anniversary of honorary captain

ALTON, Texas (ValleyCentral) — The family of honorary captain Brandon Tadeo Alvarez, along with the Alton Police Department honored the fifth anniversary of his death.

The young boy was sworn in as police captain when he was 9 and battling cancer.

Officials say Alvarez had dreams of becoming a police officer one day.

"Every year since his passing we do a toy drive with the police department to and the Alvarez family does a toy drive as well in his memory," said Lt. Ruben Lozano with the Alton Police Department.
