Woman found dead inside truck that crashed into Harlingen canal

A woman was killed after losing control of the pickup truck she was driving and crashed into a Harlingen area canal Friday evening.

Police arrived at 2230 Multi National around 9:20 p.m. in reference to a vehicle crash in the area, the Harlingen Police Department said in a news release.

At the scene, authorities found a pickup truck flipped upside down inside the canal. They say the driver lost control of the truck and drove off the northbound lane in the 2600 block of North Expressway 77.

The female victim, whose identity is pending notification of next of kin, was found dead inside the vehicle.

Harlingen police said they’ll provide additional details once they finish their investigation.
