WILLACY COUNTY, Texas (ValleyCentral) — A Sebastian resident was arrested for making four abusive calls to 911, authorities say.
Marcos Daniel Cortez, 30, was charged with silent or abusive call/electronic communication to 911 service, terroristic threat against an officer, resisting arrest and resisting transport, according to a news release from the Willacy County Sheriff's Office.
At 5:23 p.m. on Saturday, Cortez called WCSO Telecommunications Division, using what authorities described as "vulgar language," against them and not reporting an emergency.
Dispatchers advised Cortez not to call 911unless it was an emergency and provided a non-emergency number if he needed assistance, the release stated.
Deputies say he proceeded to call La Feria PD multiple times. Deputies later responded to a residence located at Rancho Alegre Road in Sebastian, where they spoke with Cortez.
"Sheriff Deputies confirmed with Marcos there was no emergency or reason to have contacted the 911 emergency service repeatedly," the release stated."
At the scene, Cortez made threats to harm authorities. He was informed that he would be placed under arrest but began resisting.
Once apprehended, he was transported to the Willacy County Jail, where he is pending arraignment.
