HARLINGEN, Texas (ValleyCentral) — A bright light was reported over South Texas Monday evening, leaving many wondering what they were looking at.
The answer to that is likely SpaceX.
At 6:42 p.m. Monday, SpaceX's Falcon 9 launched 23 Starlink satellites into orbit from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida.
Similar reports of mysterious lights in July and October last year also coincided with a Falcon 9 rocket carrying Starlink satellites into orbit.
Falcon 9 the world's first orbital class reusable rocket. The nearly 230-ft tall rocket began delivering operational Starlink satellites into orbit in late 2019. Falcon 9 had launched 23 separate satellites two days earlier, launching from NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida.
Others reported seeing the bright light in Houston and Austin.
