Weslaco FD: Boxtruck catches fire on expressway, delays reported

WESLACO, Texas (ValleyCentral) — The Weslaco Fire Department is responding to an active truck fire on the expressway.

A box truck carrying cargo caught on fire while on the eastbound expressway lanes before 1 p.m., according to Weslaco Fire Chief Antonio Lopez.

Traffic delays are anticipated and will take up to 40 minutes to clear the scene, Lopez added.

No injuries were reported.

Lopez suggests drivers to keep up with vehicles through proper maintenance to avoid a vehicle fire.
