PHARR, Texas (ValleyCentral) — Authorities have identified the individual who died in a wrong-way expressway crash on Sunday.
The driver has been identified as 24-year-old Yeime Guzman of Edinburg.
At approximately 5:45 a.m. Sunday, authorities responded to the 1900 block of West Interstate Highway 2 eastbound lanes regarding a two-vehicle accident.
According to a previous ValleyCentral report, one man, later identified as Guzman was pronounced dead at the scene and a 25-year-old man was taken to the hospital with injuries.
Police say, the second driver involved in the accident, continues to receive treatment for his injuries at a local hospital.
A preliminary investigation revealed that Guzman was traveling westbound on Interstate Highway 2's eastbound lanes when the collision occurred.
An autopsy and toxicology report has been ordered that will indicate whether or not alcohol played a factor in the crash.
