Velox’s Import accelerator MaquilaNow is now on the market

BROWNSVILLE, Texas – Velox Global Solutions, the Brownsville-based software development company, had a successful launch of its new MaquilaNow import accelerator product.

General manager Steve Perez launched the product at the eBridge Center for Business & Commercialization in downtown Brownsville.

Asked to explain the product, Perez said: “It is an AI-developed business-to-business product. We’re trying to accelerate the import process, especially for the import of a company’s raw materials.  Sometimes it can take 24 hours or 48 hours to be prepped and imported. So we want to be able to accelerate that from 24 hours or 48 hours down to maybe two hours or six hours. It’s an accelerator.

Asked about the level of interest shown at the official launch, Perez said:

“We did have some good feedback from the audience. One of them was a maquila. So, I’m already prospecting them, and we’re going to see them in February, when people from New York come in to the area. Then we had a freight forwarder, and he was very interested in our product as well. We also had an educational organization interested in the AI component that we were talking about. So, I think it went well. Remember, this is a business-to-business product. I was never expecting to get 40 orders. I don’t sell ice cream. But that’s the way it works and I’m happy that I have those prospects.”

Perez said the maquiladora that is interested in MaquilaNow believes the product can improve its efficiency.

“For them it solves a lot of their issues. They gave me feedback that they had like, eight people using paper and pen and they want to digitize. And I told them, you need to digitize because AI is going to be flooding us this year. This is the year of AI. I don’t know if you saw the news, but there’s going to be an investment of $500 billion in AI. That is billion with a ‘B.’ If you don’t use AI, then AI will crush you, or your competitors, well they’re going to crush you. It (AI) is too damn powerful.”

Perez said he keeps looking for the best way to describe AI.

“I came up with this one. So, it’s kind of like going to your own kitchen. You have just a regular kitchen, but you have like 10,000 (AI) agents working for you. And then you tell them, hey guys, in less than ten minutes I need, like, 100 carrot cakes, 100 pineapple turnovers, and 100 strawberry cakes. And you give the instruction to the agents and they do their stuff. They check their fridge, and there’s no raw material, so they send other agents to H-E-B and Kroger and get milk and eggs and flour. Obviously, they’re not going to lift the cargo, so they send the orders to GrubHub. So, now they’re sending orders for eggs and flour and milk, right? So you got a few agents doing that. You got other agents prepping the material. And in the time you know it, all of those cakes are done for you in less than 10 minutes. It’s very hard to wrap your head around that.”

Perez said he did show one video at the software release event.

“We showcased how one computer can control 10,000 drones and make magic out of it. Just imagine those 10,000 drones are now 10,000 agents. That’s the power of the agent, and we’re going to be flooded this year.”

Perez acknowledged it is hard to explain the concept of AI agents.

“Even I have a hard time defining it. It’s hard. You know, back in the ‘90s when I was able to do some things like data-sharing and connectivity. I was able to duplicate myself. Instead of working, you know, 12 hours in four hours, I was taking four hour lunches. Who takes a four hour lunch? I do, right? And so that gives you evidence what a computer can give you. But 10,000 hours? It is hard to wrap your mind around. It very hard. I don’t give you more numbers, because it’s even harder to comprehend.”
