Traffic on Hwy 4 to be delayed due to SpaceX transport

BOCA CHICA, Texas (ValleyCentral) — Cameron County announced that State Highway 4 may experience traffic delays Thursday or Friday due to SpaceX operations.

According to a release sent out by Cameron County Judge Eddie Trevino Jr., SpaceX will be conducting Texas Department of Transportation approved transports on Highway 4 from the Massey's to the factory.

The available time slots for this transportation are between noon and 4 p.m. on Thursday or midnight to 4 a.m. Friday.

The transport will take approximately two hours.

The Cameron County beach, known as Boca Chica Beach, and highway will remain open throughout the operation. However, drivers can expect traffic to be delayed during transport.

ValleyCentral reached out to Louis Balderas with LabPadre to see what vehicle is being transported. Balderas stated that it is likely the booster or Starship rocket.
