"The experience of Star Trek is so much greater than any one actor," she said.

She added, that when the show was pitched to her they informed her it was not the 'same old, same old' and her character had a whole new arch to her life.

During the convention, Derick Garcia also spoke with popular voice actor Ricco Fajardo, who is known for his role as Mirio Togata in the hit anime, "My Hero Academia".

Farjardo told ValleyCentral it felt amazing to talk to fans and connect with them during the South Texas Comic Con.

"A show like "My Hero Academia" has a huge fan base from very young to very old, like myself, and it really is a show that has touched many different people," he added.

Fajardo says the voice that inspired them to begin his craft began when he saw Kevin Conroy walk at a convention and heard his voice.

"He walked into the room, said 'hello everyone' and the way his voice resonated throughout the room, made me think 'Oh my gosh that's Batman, that's vengeance, that is the sound of the knight'," he said.

Fajardo advises aspiring actors and voice actors to "ain't nothing to it but to do it" and to practice their craft, whether it is recording voices on their phones or taking classes.
