MCALLEN, Texas (ValleyCentral) — Cyber Monday continues to be the biggest online shopping day of the year.
Consumers are expected to spend a record $13.2 billion this year, representing 6.1% more than last year.
Shoppers like Javier Suarez took advantage of Cyber Monday and said there are many advantages of buying online.
“I can reach exactly what I need and what I am looking for," he said. "In my case, it was a camera, and lights, and instead of going around to any other store and searching to see if they have it. I go online and it was easier for me.”
Suarez considers online shopping practical. He said he spends less time looking around and more time choosing between products. He even says it helps him save money.
“The reason I spent more was because I went to an actual store," Suarez said.
Alejandrina Rodriguez said even at her age she enjoys shopping online because it helps her browse for all the things she wants. She also loves comparing products before choosing one final option.
"You have time to choose the price and the quality," Rodriguez said. "You look for reviews and everything and if you go to the store and they are about to close you run around and might forget something or do not compare it well with other items.”
Rodriguez said she already finished all her holiday shopping as well thanks to doing it online. The only advice she has is for older shoppers like herself to do so from reputable sources.
Other shoppers like Victor Sommarribes said one of the few true downsides to online shopping is waiting for the product to arrive.
“The only bad thing is that you have to wait for everything to come in but other than that, everything is great," he said.
Some of the shoppers said they also took advantage of Cyber Monday sales to purchase all of their Christmas decorations. Thus, making the day another key date of the Christmas shopping season.
