Valley's first Panera Bread to open in Edinburg

EDINBURG, Texas (ValleyCentral) — The first Panera Bread in the Rio Grande Valley is set to open its doors in Edinburg this fall.

The Edinburg Economic Development Corporation is welcoming Panera Bread to one of the city's main shopping districts.

Panera Bread is a casual bakery-cafe that serves freshly baked breads, salads, sandwiches, soups, smoothies, teas and coffees.

The new restaurant is one of two Panera Bread locations that will be coming to the Valley.

“This is an exciting opportunity for Edinburg residents to enjoy a restaurant we haven’t seen in the Rio Grande Valley before,” said Mayor Ramiro Garza, Jr.

San Benito to get first Chick-fil-A

Panera Bread in Edinburg is expected to create 40 full-time jobs with a capital investment of $5.9 million.

“Panera Bread is a continuation of the success we're seeing in attracting new businesses to our city,” Mayor Garza continued.

The Valley's first Panera Bread will be located on 201 E. Trenton Road with plans to open in November 2024.
