UTRGV Football has unveiled its inaugural season schedule

EDINBURG — UTRGV’s football schedule for the 2025 season has arrived and features a 12-game slate with seven games to be played in the Rio Grande Valley during the Vaqueros’ inaugural season.

The Vaqueros will play six games on their home field at Vackar Stadium in Edinburg, with one more home game scheduled to be played at Sams Memorial Stadium in Brownsville. The game to be played at Sams Memorial Stadium will likely take place in Week 3 or Week 4, as UTRGV has back-to-back home games scheduled against North American and Texas Wesleyan.

Game times and locations will be released by UTRGV at a later date.

“We got signing day coming up in less than 24 hours, looking forward to that class, and excited to finally get the schedule out in the open,” UTRGV head coach Travis Bush said during a news conference Tuesday. “Worked on it for a while, we’ve known about it, so excited to get that out there and get it to the public and let them start circling games, knowing who’s coming to town and knowing where we’re traveling to in 2025. It’s definitely going to be a challenging schedule. The Southland Conference is a tough conference, and looking at the teams we got at home and on the road, we’re going to play the top teams in the conference this year. We’re excited to get the challenge rolling and get rolling this spring.”

“College football in the Valley has been a long time coming, and we’re excited to be able to have so many home games to #RallyTheValley during this historic season,” UTRGV Vice President and director of athletics Chasse Conque said. “The Valley deserves this, and we are looking forward to celebrating amid sellout crowds throughout 2025.”

The action is 207 days away as the Vaqueros will take the field in Week 1 against Sul Ross on Saturday, Aug. 30 at Vackar Stadium in Edinburg.

UTRGV will play three of its first four games in the Valley, all of which are non-conference matchups. The Vaqueros’ lone nonconference road contest comes against Prairie View A&M in Week 2.

UTRGV will kickoff Southland Conference play in Week 5 on the road against Southeastern Louisiana. The Vaqueros’ last home game of the year is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 22 against East Texas A&M.

TICKET INFORMATION

UTRGV Athletics initially made 6,000 season ticket deposits available for the 2025 football season and the allotment is sold out.

UTRGV is hard at work to ensure the Rio Grande Valley community has the best game day experience possible. As a part of that process, it was determined that limiting season ticket deposits to 6,000 is necessary to accommodate enough seats for season ticket holders, UTRGV students, the marching band, the player pass list, and the visiting team pass list.

Fans who have not yet placed a deposit but are interested in season tickets can sign up for the wait list at GoUTRGV.com/FootballWaitList. Should additional season tickets become available following the select-a-seat process, UTRGV Athletics will contact fans on the wait list based on Vaqueros Loyalty Points ranking.

Should any single-game tickets be available, they will be released during the week leading up to each game. Available inventory is not guaranteed and may vary by game.
