BROWNSVILLE, Texas (ValleyCentral) — The retired USS John F. Kennedy aircraft carrier will soon arrive to the Port of Brownsville to be dismantled.
The aircraft carrier served in the U.S. Navy and deployed to several missions across the world.
USS JFK served in the U.S. Navy from 1968 before it was decommissioned in 2007.
It is the first ship named after the 35th president of the United States.
The carrier departed from Pennsylvania in mid-January and is on its final voyage to the Rio Grande Valley.
USS JFK is expected to arrive at the Port of Brownsville this week.
