U.S. Congressman Gonzalez announces funding for water project

SAN BENITO, Texas (ValleyCentral) — U.S. Congressman Vicente Gonzalez announced funding for the Water Retention Infrastructure.

Gonzalez said the infrastructure will help stop seepage and evaporation to help conserve water in the Valley.

"We need to invest in projects that help capture and conserve water, as we continue to press Mexico to pay us the water that they owe us," Gonzalez said. "I'm hoping in the next few months this particular project will be completed, there is still a lot more work to do."

Gonzalez added that this investment would create a much more efficient water delivery system to address any water shortage issues within the district.

The project is expected to be completed within six to eight months.
