U.S. Coast Guard provides boating safety tips

SOUTH PADRE ISLAND, Texas (ValleyCentral) — During this Labor Day weekend many families are visiting the beach. ValleyCentral spoke with the United States Coast Guard to get key tips on how to keep your family safe while enjoying a day at the beach.

The U.S. Coast Guard says children under 12 years of age should always wear a life jacket when in a boat or on the water.

Additionally, the Coast Guard is reminding boat owners to always conduct a full inspection of their vessels before taking the boat to the water. A full inspection will ensure it is as safe as possible.
