TxDOT presents 'Drive Sober. No Regrets' campaign at Clayton's

SOUTH PADRE ISLAND, Texas (ValleyCentral) — The Texas Department of Transportation presented its initiative to prevent drunk driving.

The "Drive Sober. No Regrets" campaign was presented on Saturday at Clayton's Beach Bar to show the consequences of drinking and driving.

The event held a vintage-style carnival titled "DWI Not So Fun House" trailer, which featured games, testimonials and a "drunk goggles" simulation.

Valley experiences severe weather Saturday morning

According to TxDOT during Spring Break 2022 there were 801 driving under the influence car crashes, that killed 44 people and injured 90 others.

Additionally in the Rio Grande Valley, 1,313 DUI alcohol-related car crashes resulted in 49 fatalities and 130 people injured.

TxDOT's initiative with this campaign is to remind drivers and passengers why driving sober is important.
