AUSTIN, Texas – The JET program is administered by the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC). It provides grants to buy and install equipment for career and technical education (CTE) courses.
These courses must lead to a license, certificate or post-secondary degree in a high-demand occupation.
The JET Advisory Board meets in Austin every quarter to review received applications. Eligible grantees include public junior, state or technical colleges, Texas Independent School Districts (ISDs) in partnership with a public junior, state, or technical college, and Open-enrollment charter schools in partnership with a public junior, state, or technical college.
Joe Esparza, the commissioner representing employers on TWC, attended the most recent meeting of the JET Advisory Board as an observer. After the meeting he gave an interview to the Rio Grande Guardian. Here is a video recording of the interview:
