Tropical Storm Alberto makes landfall

3 months ago 97

HARLINGEN, Texas (ValleyCentral) — Tropical Storm Alberto made landfall near Tampico around 8 a.m. Thursday morning. At its strongest, the storm had 50mph sustained winds, which is on the weak end of tropical storm strength. It will rapidly weaken as it moves inland.

The RGV remains in a flood watch until 1 p.m., and the coast has a wind advisory until noon. Winds could gust near 50mph. Our tornado watch and tropical storm warning expired this morning.

Rain chances will stick around through the start of next week.

Next, we have a 50% chance of development in the same location Alberto just passed through. This area of interest is not expected to become a tropical storm, but it will play a part in our weekend rain chances.
