McALLEN, Texas (ValleyCentral) — Several Valley families have an extra reason to be thankful this holiday season.
South Texas Health Systems welcomes three Thanksgiving babies.
According to parents.com, the rarest birthdays occur in November, including Nov. 24 through Nov. 28, which so happens that these dates land on Thanksgiving.
The De La Portilla family has something very special to be thankful for this year. At 3:19 a.m., they welcomed their new bundle of joy, Damian.
According to a news release from STHS, Damian's due date was on Dec. 5, but arrived early for the Thanksgiving celebrations.
“I went to an appointment with my doctor in Weslaco and she immediately sent me to STHS McAllen, saying it was time for me to deliver,” said new mom Jessica Galvan. “After 12 hours in labor, I’m very happy to have my child in my arms!”
Galvan arrived at the hospital on Wednesday afternoon and gave birth early Thursday morning.
Weighing in at 8 pounds, 10 ounces and measuring 20 inches long, Damian is welcomed by his family, including his three older sisters.
He is one of three babies delivered on Thanksgiving morning at STHS in McAllen.
