STHS starts 'Steps for Stroke' awareness event

HARLINGEN, Texas (ValleyCentral) — South Texas Health System discussed the "Steps for Stroke" challenge to raise awareness about stroke prevention.

STHS emphasized the importance of diet, exercise, and managing chronic conditions like diabetes and high blood pressure.

The challenge, which begins on May 17 and ends on May 23, involves walking at least 10,000 steps daily, with a pep rally on May 17 at STHS McAllen.

Participants can register online at sthsactive.com for $20, including a t-shirt, and log their steps on athleteguild.com.

Trophies will be awarded for the most steps. STHS encourages a lifelong habit of walking 10,000 steps daily.

Mark your calendars for Saturday, May 17, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the South Texas Health System McAllen (Courtyard Area) 301 W. Expressway 83.
