STC hosts RGV Regional Science Olympiad

MCALLEN, Texas (ValleyCentral) — Students across the Rio Grande Valley competed in the 18th annual Rio Grande Valley Regional Science Olympiad.

The competition was held on Saturday at the South Texas College, Pecan campus.

Brownsville prepares for upcoming Charro Days events

The program is dedicated to math and science, including chemistry, biology and physics. During the competition, students participated in several written and practical tests.

"It's basically the Valley trying to be in the same quality of students with interest in science education," said Reginald Gonzalez, chemistry instructor with South Texas College.

Participating students also worked on mapping, hands-on experiments and building an aircraft.
