SpaceX to build $14M rec center, sushi restaurant in Brownsville

BROWNSVILLE, Texas (ValleyCentral) — SpaceX will continue its expansion in South Texas by adding a recreation center and sushi restaurant.

Two new SpaceX constructions are listed on state records, under title project names "Recreation Center" and "Sushi restaurant," which have a combined cost of more than $14 million.

The 2,502-foot sushi restaurant has an address listed at 52213 St. Jude Street, in Brownsville. The cost of the projected is listed at $499,000, with the scope of work including construction and an interior build out.

The recreation center is listed as a $13,491,202 project. The 16,176-square foot recreation center will be located at 38965 LBJ Blvd.

Both the construction for the restaurant and recreation center have an expected start date of May 1, with a completion date of May 31, 2025.

This comes after ValleyCentral reported in February that SpaceX planned to build a $100 million office and industrial factory, along with a $15 million shopping center and café that overlooks the Rio Grande.
