South Texas ISD hosts NASA HUNCH program event

MERCEDES, Texas (ValleyCentral) — The South Texas Independent School District hosted a NASA HUNCH Program event for students across the Rio Grande Valley.

The event was held Tuesday, where students presented their projects for critical design review.

Ali Westover, program manager for the Biomedical and Health Science Program at NASA, said at the event they are looking for the best projects created by the students and invite them to go to Houston.

"All of these projects come down to our Human Research group at NASA, which are things that we need for our Moon to Mars mission," Westover said. "It's very critical that we get solutions to these problems and these students are helping to solve these problems."

Westover added students will then get the opportunity to show their projects to astronauts, flight doctors and human researchers at NASA.
