EDINBURG, Texas (ValleyCentral) — South Texas Health System welcomed the first baby of Valentine's Day.

STHS announced the arrival of baby Olivia Veronica Rodriguez, who weighed in at 6 lbs., 12 oz., and measured 20 inches long.

She arrived at the Maternity Center at South Texas Health System Edinburg at 1:24 a.m. on Friday, making her the first baby delivered at an STHS facility on Valentine’s Day.

“I knew she would come around Valentine’s Day; I just didn’t think she would arrive on the day of love itself,” said proud mother Sandra Hernandez. “But having her today is just so perfect since she is already so loved.”

While Olivia was the first baby welcomed at an STHS facility on Valentine’s Day, the Maternity Center at STHS Edinburg and the Maternity at STHS McAllen anticipate the arrival of at least five more infants this day.

The staff have gone the extra mile to make the day extra special for them with holiday-themed gifts, including a Baby’s First Valentine’s Day onesie, fresh flowers, and a gift certificate for a massage for each of the moms donated by Spa La Posada, said the hospital.
