South Texas Comic Con mourns death of Pokemon actress

McALEN, Texas (ValleyCentral) — South Texas Comic Con is mourning the loss of beloved voice actor Rachel Lillis.

Rachel Lillis, known for her roles in Pokemon as Misty, Jessie and Jigglypuff, died on Saturday, Aug. 10. She was 46.

Veronica Taylor, the original voice of the Pokemon character Ash Ketchum, announced on Instagram that Lillis died over the weekend after a long battle with cancer.

"It is with a very heavy heart that I share the news of the passing of Racheal Lillis on Saturday evening, 10 August 2024." the social media post reads.

Lillis visited the Rio Grande Valley in 2018 where she attended South Texas Comic Con, and met many of her Valley fans.

South Texas Comic Con commented on the community's sudden loss.

"We are deeply saddened by the passing of Rachael Lillis, the iconic voice behind Pokémon's Misty, Jessie, and Jigglypuff. It was an honor to have her with us at South Texas Comic Con in 2018. May you rest in peace, Rachael." the statement reads.
