BROWNSVILLE, Texas (ValleyCentral) — The South Texas Alliance of Cities held its quarterly meeting on Tuesday.

The meeting covered border and immigration issues, economic development and drought conditions in the region.

The South Texas Alliance of Cities was created with the value of regional collaboration in mind and discusses common issues to address the challenges that the rapidly growing region faces.

"We're really trying to showcase what Brownsville's doing in terms of immigration, in terms of water sustainability and also talking about economic development and how we're impacting the region," said the Mayor of Brownsville, John Cowen.
