Inside look at Harlingen South Marching Band

HARLINGEN, Texas (ValleyCentral) — Our ValleyCentral Morning News Anchor Marco Ramirez gives us an inside look at the hard work the Harlingen South Marching Band put in every year during marching season.

From carrying instruments, while memorizing your music, marching in step, and remembering where your next spot needs to be. These students train for months in summer conditions for their marching band competitions that occur in the fall.

However, does Marco have what it takes to join them?

Marco grabbed a pair of symbols and decided to give it a shot to see if he could handle being part of a marching band.

While at their practice, Marco was learning how to march by keeping his beat with a metronome.

"This is a lot harder than it looks folks," he said. "Not too bad, Mr. Rios [Harlingen South Band Director] said I have some rhythm in me so that's a good sign."

With band practice being wrapped up, Marco can say with confidence he survived his first day at band camp.
