Single car accident in McAllen kills man, causes power outage

MCALLEN, Texas (ValleyCentral) — McAllen Police are investigating a single-vehicle accident that occurred early Wednesday morning.

According to police around 3 a.m. on the 4100 block of north Bicentennial Boulevard, the driver of a car was heading south on Bicentennial when it traveled off the roadway and crashed into a cinder block wall, parked vehicle and then damaged a light pole.

The driver, identified as Dominik Alvarado, 21, of Hidalgo died at the scene. A passenger also a 21-year-old man was transported to an area hospital.

A truck crashed into a concrete barrier at the International Museum of Arts and Science in McAllen Wednesday morning.

The crash also caused power outages to about 1,000 AEP customers in the area. Power has since been restored.

An autopsy has been ordered by the justice of the peace. Police are investigating this accident.
